"If They Answer Not to Thy Call, Walk Alone….."
We are certain that the youths will walk through the future confidently making us pride. With the changing demographics and more families from India coming to US, more and more youth are participating at Bangamela in most cities. As they grow up as Americans, the Bangamela 2008 takes on an important role where first generation Indian-Americans can learn about and relate to the cultural heritage of India. The event will act as a cultural connection for these youth, and help them to ease their struggle to find the balance between the traditions of their parents and contemporary American lifestyle, thereby promoting pluralism. The youth group will get a positive peer group and an intimate sense of community.
The mela will provide the chance to understand their root and learn about that. Banga mela 2008 will showcase that our culture is not in conflict with other cultures and traditions rather compliment them. We welcome the youth to join wide range of sessions like bangla cooking, music, dealing with identity issues, talent show, various ‘adda’s etc and above all make some great friends who will be with you in this country for the rest of your life.
